It all begins with an idea!

Photography for Karen is not just about creating images; it is about experiencing the moment and sharing that experience with others. She finds joy in the quiet stillness of nature, where time seems to stand still allowing her to immerse herself fully in the environment. Whether it is the flutter of a bird’s wings or the rustle of leaves in the wind, these moments inspire her to document the beauty that often goes unnoticed.

In 2016 Jim began a “medically induced retirement” from his career as an Information Technology executive. While planning a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin in Spring Green, WI, he found a Beginners Photography Workshop being offered.. He figured this would be a great opportunity to combine his interest in architecture (Engineering Degree) with the potential of beginning an interest in architecture. The workshop, conducted by Andrew Pielage exceeded all of his expectations! It took him from “automatic setting” to understanding what photography really was in just a few days! More than ten workshops with Andrew later, Jim is still learning.

In 2021 we “expanded our horizons” by taking a landscape photography workshop in Acadia, ME through the Out of Chicago group. It was incredible workshop and opened our eyes to the world of landscape photography and four other incredible instructors: John Putnam, Mark Denney, Anne Belmont and Nathaniel Child.

Through susequent workshops, both group and private, Karen and Jim have continued to hone their skills and see incredible beauty throughout the United States.
